It's a good point. Brian Westbrook used to kneel down. He was a smart player.

Wouldn't have mattered. They had two timeouts. They did score too fast and that killed them. The long catch and run was the death blwo

It depends on where you kneel.

You kneel down if a FG wins it. No fricking way you give up taking the lead in a national championship game. Goal line stands are not unprecedented.

No way to make that move. Something crazy happens and a fumble makes you a goat instead of GOAT

Not giving up 40 yard pass play would have been much more helpful

You kneel when you're winning. When you're behind no points are guaranteed.

That was a completely different game situation.

With Timmy Jernigan on life support on the sidelines? I don't know. Generally, you're right. It's just that they were running down FSU's throat that drive.

ETA: 4? I thought they were down 3?

They would have had to burn a timeout

They were down 3

And you would only do it down 1 or 2

Dont settle for the tie if you're down 3

i was kinda upset when he broke the tackle at the first down because i was sure they would've scored the TD. but as a player u can't even think that way, take the lead

And then what? Score on the very next play? Take two knees and try to score on 3rd down? Take three knees and go for the FG?

Like someone said, the defense allowing 40 yard plays and committing unnecessary pass interference in the end zone were slightly larger issues.

As fans we like to say teams "scored too fast" kind of in jest. But there is no way you don't take the points in that situation.

Absolutely. People need to stop mindlessly repeating adages like "you don't give up the chance to take the lead" and start explaining why it gives them a better chance of winning.

Auburn's only goal is to be in the lead at the end of the game. Should have taken a knee at the 1 and then taken two more knees IF FSU called their timeouts.
