Well, they are supposed to Just like you claim all your internet purchases to pay sales tax. These will be added to the paycheck, so you have no choice.

where i used to work, all credit card tips were taxed automatically, since they were on the books


that was 10 years ago, and with the increased use of credit cards today, i imagine a much higher percentage of tips are taxed (assuming other restaurants operate the same way)

It has been 20 for me and I mostly dealt with checks and cash back then
