I have cut cable and live off of 3 apple tvs in the house.

I also have 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 1 android, and a MacBook Air.

I picked up the chromecast for my daughters room (3 and 5 years old)

My questions are, are there native apps on the cast itself like Netflix, etc or does everything have to be streamed from a device?

And

Is it woof enabled or does it have to be hard wired?

Only reason I got it over man other appletv is that it's much cheaper and for that bedroom I don't need the functionality of appletv, just a Netflix and mirroring enabled device day from iPad or MacBook

TIA

So you did no research whatsoever before you bought it ?

All you had to do was Google the word Chromecast.

will not mirror anything from a device. You will have to use a smart phone, tablet or computer.

Here is a list of apps that support chromecast as of now.

No, I did research but I wasn't clear on the native app thing, plus the cast was given to me unopened in box as a gift and I was just clearing up what it could do. I don't need a lot of functionality in the room I'm putting it in.

I know you have to have chrome on the machines that do the casting, I was just not clear on if it stored native apps at all or not.

I know it won't "mirror" per say line the appletv does but from what I've gathered it will cast anything from a chrome browser on the network, this would mean my iPads, iPhone, and MacBook could all be potential casting hosts.

chromecast doesn't really store anything. Just downloads whatever it is told to display.

Runs great, easy to setup and running Netflix like a boss from an iPad.

Runs hulu and hbo go as well, not shabby for $35

It's awesome. That is all.

If you have a Belkin Wireless router though be prepared for a struggle

Mine is really finicky. It works so great when it works, but it is invariably "live" for less than 20 minutes before simply disappearing from all devices that recognize it. Anyone had this problem?
