I feel as though society today kind of requires you to talk shite behind peoples back as opposed to telling them to their face. this is because the reprecautions of saying something someone won't like are so high. and don't say that you "keep it to yourself" because everyone has to vent someway

I would elaborate more but don't want people to not read because it's too long

post your thoughts

I'm talking about within friend groups more so than business acquaintances although it applies to a bunch of different aspects of your social life

Is it considered talking behind your back while I'm fricking you in the arse?

Taking behind people's backs is a bad habit that I do too. It is very common though

I don't think there has ever been a time when it wasn't easier to talk about people behind their backs than to deal with them directly. That's why advice against gossiping goes back at least to the Old Testament.

Of course, the problem with talking behind someone's back is that sooner or later the person finds out, and usually hears a distorted version of what you said.

In my experience talking behind someone's back is asking for trouble. You think you are just telling one person but it will eventually get back to that other person.

And it can get you in serious trouble at the office.

I'm not a woman so I don't have to vent.

I guess what I mean more than talking behind someone's back is saying your true feelings on a topic which I guess talking behind someone's back falls under

If I understand you correctly, I think that's a little different. If you have different political, social, or religious views from your family or coworkers, you might not want to discuss those subjects with them but discuss them with like minded people instead, and there is nothing wrong with that, but your true feelings may also get back to them.

Absolutely. I feel guilty anytime I talk negatively about a close friend and i generally dont, but I have no problem bitching about something or someone I'm not close to

Nope, it's always much funnier to talk shite behind people's backs...they get their feelings hurt if its to their face and people won't laugh as much.
