Symphony question

I'm getting tickets to the symphony and haven't been since I was a kid. Does it really matter where you sit?

Don't sit too close because the sound right by the stage is pretty awful. Most halls are designed to have the best sound in the first tier, middle. The closer you are to the middle of the first tier, the better the sound. But almost all seats will have great sound save the first 3-4 rows.
