So, we've only played 2 teams who run similar offenses to Iowa? Big ? mark

UF and Arkansas.
UF was so terrible on offense, there's really no conclusions we can draw from this game. We did stop their run pretty well.
Arkansas ran on us a little bit and scored more points than they should have. We looked pretty timid and weak against them on D. However, this game being on Friday after Thanksgiving and after a great win in the Aggie game, really means we just came out flat....maybe.
I'm not worried about our offense at all, except for Mett is out. So, Jennings, although a great drive in the Arky game, is a HUGE unknown.
The people who say they're not excited for this game baffle me. We're gonna see what AJ is made of, we're gonna see how much work he needs to do for when he takes over next season. We're also gonna see how strong our D really is against a power running team. Lots of question marks and the fact that we're seeing a new QB and may see some new wrinkles in the offense has me pumped for the game.

I already know how strong our D is vs any run game

If Mettenberger hadn't gotten hurt, I most likely wouldnt care about this game.
Now that he is hurt and we get to see AJ I am super stoked for this game.

You really think we will see some new wrinkles on offense with a QB with little to no game time experience? I'd bet the house we see a whole lot of handoffs and a few short passes on third down.
If by wrinkles you mean a couple of mid to deep routes, then maybe, but you are going to be disappointed if you are looking for plays out of the secret playbook.

I agree; I don't think they'll saddle AJ with too much in terms of him having to make tons of plays. I think Cam & Co. will try to wear Iowa out with the running game and try to give AJ the opportunity for high-percentage pass plays.

I think you'll see a few read option plays and maybe a trick play if needed. We'll start the game with handing it off and very short passes, as we should to build his confidence.
I don't think we need a secret playbook. I've been pleased with the offense this year.

I am in central florida visiting relatives. At various attractions, I have seen a ton of college football gear for teams playing in central florida including a bunch of iowa stuff.
I have yet to see one LSU hat, t-shirt, bumper sticker or really anything.
The fans aren't excited that is for sure. I would hope the team is excited and we get a great game like we did in the cap1 bowl a few years ago.

yea and we open with wisconsin next year so you get a rough preview of that. want to see our dline have their best game of the season. hope a rested freak means he plays to his potential. feel like hunter and rasco will show up. ego has been pretty consistent all year.

Agreed. It's a damn shame our fan base has gotten to the point of BCSNC game or "frick it. I'm not even watching." We travel no better than a Purdue or Wisconsin team would.
People acting like Iowa is some bum team haven't paid attention to football this year.

the only big concern of mine is that we all know this team can just come out so lackadaisical if they aren't teeing off against alabama or georgia at 7pm. its a noon kickoff on new year's day, just hope they come out inspired.
other than that i am excited. it's the last fricking game of the year and all these clowns who 'don't care about this game' are the same frickheads who will be begging chicken to put up the countdown till kickoff clock in fricking april.

What an awfully shitty way to go about being an LSU fan.

Our team is pretty damn good this year. two of our losses were to the big10 championship teams, the other was a close loss to a pesky N. Illinois team.
The only loss that looks bad was the Wisconsin game. We lost control in the 2nd half.

Early in the year too.

It's easy to lose control against a running team because a team who can run down your throat is a lot more demoralizing to a D than a passing team.

That N. Illinois loss looks even worse now, with how they finished the year.

the two picks didn't help. It was close until the turnovers.
LSU has better players at almost every position but we play well as a team. We win by managing the game and taking advantage of mistakes. It appears that LSU has a habit of making mistakes this season.
Should be a good game. I just hate the early kickoff time.

I don't think it's just that.
These neutral site games has overtaken bowl games. They mean more in the long run.
Plus, fans generally won't make two trips to away sites in a season. Now, you have people trying to decide if they want to go to Houston or Dallas or Lambeau over a year in advance, or Tampa on 24 days notice.

Hoping not to see "old wrinkle" short side option play Jennings pitch to Hill for a 4 yeard loss.
Hopefully Cam burned the old playbook

I think Arkansas' rushing game is underrated. They are 23 in the country in rushing yards per game. And that is playing an SEC schedule and teams knowing they can't pass

The short-side option worked against Bama in OT.
