Has he ever been considered for a head coaching position at LSU or other college team? He hasn't ever been hired as a head coach except interim in the NFL but he has a ton of experience since retiring from playing for the Raiders.

I think his name was thrown in the mix a couple of times for the TIGERS, don't know about NFL. I do know that while playing at LSU both sides of the Mississippi river from the Sunshine bridge all the way to NOLA - claimed he was their first or second cousin.

Not that good as a head coach on the interim basis in the NFL. Son went to Ohio State. But I'm sure the talent is there to head coach in college.

A team with the stature of LSU should never hire a lifetime assistant coach. I'd make an exception for an assistant at LSU who our executives have seen in action for a few years - maybe a Jimbo Fisher or Cam Cameron type. But only if that guy oozed head coaching leadership and effort.

TR is in the Correct Role, he tells people that when asked. Too much PR, executive skills required as HC college or pro.

His son is on Falcons practice squad and lives with Terry and his wife in the Atlanta area.

Let's put it this way. If Frank wilson stays on at LSU for another 5 years and keeps recruiting like a beast, then I wouldn't mind giving him a shot at HC when Les retires.

These assistant hires work out pretty well a lot of the time.

I've heard he has some hard feelings with LSU over not being seriously considered for the head job upon on of the openings, not sure if it was the 95 or 2000 slot.

I've heard for years that he's not interested in coaching at the college level...

That is very likely true, no reason to doubt.

But I don't think that was always the case. He did an interview with an Advocate reporter on his availability for the LSU job (again, not sure if it was '95 or 2000) and he certainly was interested then.

i've heard this several times. i'm not sure it was about not being hired though. it just seems he had a disconnect with LSU after graduation and has never really supported us since. not sure what his grudge is but i would like to see he and LSU making up.

Terry's experience growing up in South LA wasnt all that, once he got out of LA he got all the way out.
He truly is a professional assistant and not cut out for HC duties and as mentioned above he will tell you that himself.

I read it in an article about him somewhere recently that he was disappointed about not being considered in 95. might have been on NOLA.com. it wasn't a quote from him though, more the writer kind of summing things up. I believe one of his quotes said that although he hadn't been that close to the program, he was still proud to have come out of LSU.

Has had a long career coaching in the NFL; perhaps he isn't head coaching material or doesn't want to be a head coach. He is also close to sixty years old, so his days as a coach are probably coming to a close. Congrats to him for a great job at LSU and as a coach.

Good 1-2 punch with he and Alexander in '76. Just had no passing threat.

When Ensminger/Woodley came around the next year, Charlie A. set the single season rushing total that still stands.

What was that old sketch on Saturday Night Live? "Lowered Expectations."

How about FW getting some experience as a Head Coach or OC at a smaller school before being given the reigns at LSU, huh.
