Congressman calls for refunds for shipping for not making Dec 25 Deliveries

LINK

quote:

UPS and major retailers blame the logjam on being caught off guard this year by a mix of bad weather, last-minute shopping, and a 10 percent increase in online orders.

Some lawmakers in Washington argue those companies should have been prepared. In a radio interview, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., called for full refunds to anyone affected. He said, "The reasons or excuses given by UPS or FedEx or any of these delivery sources simply is inadequate."

I wonder if he feels the same way about Obamacare...

How come he isn't asking the Postal Service to do the same thing? I sent a package on the 19th and it still hasn't gotten to its destination (in fact it hasn't even left this area).

Blumenthal is a lying hack who lied about his military service and STILL got elected... he should confront his own dishonesty before calling out others.

They simply live in a fantasy world of like minded delusion to not see their own inadequacies.

Just what a couple of the most efficiently run companies in America need, government involvement in their business model.

They need to strive to be more like the Postal Service...

the only thing UPS and FedEx did wrong is make a "guaranteed by Xmas" shipping option too easily available..I guarantee you in the future they will remove this or move the date way up and start charging a lot more for it.

The guarantee dates just gave people to excuse to be lazy and delay their shopping thinking it didn't matter which just overloads the system...and then when bad weather happens like it did the whole thing becomes a cluster.

I understand why the people who paid for the "guarantee" are upset...but order earlier or that's the risk you take.

Government being involved is laughable.

Brick and mortar stores are loving this though.

1. He's a Senator, not a Congressman.

2. He's the former Attorney General of Connecticut as well and businesses hated to operate in his state because he would pull this kind of bull shite.

An AG may have the power to harass a business into paying protection money because they have prosecution powers they can use.

A low-end Senator from Connecticut with little pull or potential for higher office? Not so much. A high-end member of the caucus like Harry Reid, Dick Durban, or Chuck Schumer could, as well as someone thought to be a potential Presidential contender like "Lieawatha" Warren, but not this idiot.

Look up the phrase blithering idiot and you will get his pic in a heart beat. Weather is a fickle and unpredictable bitch for one thing, and the other to consider is how many people waited until it was too late to expect timely delivery by anyone other than Santa himself. As to Oboecare he voted for it without a doubt and thinks it is going at a great pace of timely delivery of service after three months of sucking a donkeys nuts.

I suspect UPS, FEDEX and USPS are in store for plenty of monetary punishment from online shippers as they certainly should be.

Looks like he's setting up for a defense of the obsolete USPS.
