Neal didn't redshirt, he played in 10 games this year.

I'll go with Frank Herron

I hate how some of the guys lost their redshirt status for maybe 1 or 2 games..Q. Leslie for example he couldve had 2 more years to improve, now hes a senior..Desean Smith too

With the WRs we have coming in it's do or die for him this next season anyways.

That's not the way players lose RS. Coaches have until the quarter of the season to decide whether or not to RS someone.

My friend beam, you are incorrect. One play burns a redshirt, unless a player gets "injured" and receives a medical redshirt.

beam, you need to educate your self on what a redshirt is and how you loose it before you go spew bad data, you loose all credibility.

I was under the impression that the coaches had until week 4 [Auburn game] to decide whether or not to RS players. I remember this was heavily debated on this site when it came to Hayden Rettig taking an RS or staying a true freshman.

Also, on the topic of Q.Leslie. I don't believe JUCO prospects can receive an RS [They may be able to receive a Med RS.]

My bad, I mixed up the medical RS & normal RS process. Oh well..

quote:

Guidelines for Medical Hardship Waiver Requests
For a student-athlete to receive a Medical Hardship Waiver per Bylaw 14.2.4, the following four conditions must be met:
The student-athlete may not have participated in more than two contests or dates of competition or 20 percent of the team's completed contests/dates of competition.
The injury or illness must occur prior to the completion of the first half of the season.
The injury or illness does not have to occur during practice/competition, but it must be incapacitating.
Appropriate medical documentation must exist and be provided.
All percentages are calculated according to contests or dates of competition, depending on how your sport's competitive opportunities are counted. Only contests or dates of competition occurring during the championship (traditional) season are included in the calculations. Conference championships/tournaments are counted as one contest or date of competition, regardless of the actual contest/dates used.

Really?, so can someone explain how Blue was awarded another year of eligibility for the '14 campaign?

Maybe it's not retroactive? I'm not sure either. It was for the 2012 season, so maybe the old rules still applied for that season even though the decision was made after the new rules were implemented.

Blue qualified for a medical redshirt because he suffered a season ending injury in the third game of the season (i.e, he lost greater than 70% of competition due to injury) and he had not previously redshirted (i.e., he played as a true freshman). Blue has one remaining season of eligibility. He would be a 5th year senior in 2014.
