quote:

Iron Man 3 is the highest-grossing movie of 2013 so far with $1.2 billion. But that’s not enough to put its star, Robert Downey Jr., on top of our list of the top-grossing actors. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson beat him this year by working more.

Iron Man was Downey’s only movie of 2013, while Johnson had one huge film, Fast & Furious 6; one big film, G.I. Joe: Retaliation; and two smaller films. Together they added up to $1.3 billion at the global box office.

With another Fast & Furious movie slated to hit theaters next summer, Johnson should have another banner year in 2014. He could do even better thanks to Hercules. The film, about the mythological hero’s life after he completes his famous 12 labors, has franchise potential written all over it. If it’s also a big hit, Johnson’s 2014 box office grosses should be huge.

Forbes link.

If ya smell what he's cookin.

People hate on him but I think he's pretty good. He's no Leo or Tom obviously, but he's good at being a big hardass and his acting has certainly improved since his days of playing the tooth fairy. From what I've heard, he's actually a pretty like able guy buy his peers.

As much work as he has done for this year I figured it would be him

Also best I can tell he's a great guy, have not seen a single person say anything negative about him. And that's rare in Hollywood, pretty much doesn't exist in wrestling

Really?

He's not trying to be Leo, Tom or RDJ.

He's trying to be the new Arnold - and while he's not that, he's going to have to do until the new Arnold comes along.

And I am not a Rock hater - in fact, I CAN smell what he is cooking, figuratively speaking.

My Aunt brought her grandchildren to the same daycare his daughter goes to. She said he is as down to earth and polite a guy as can be. I enjoy him in the action roles. In an era that lacks legitimate actions stars, he has vastly improved and is one of the few that looks the part.

I understand, just saying his acting isn't gonna win him any awards or anything, but he's not about that.

The only role I ever thought he was decent in was his limited appearance in "The Other Guys"

I'd guess 20 actors before even thinking he'd make it.

Dude is a far better actor than Arnold ever hoped to be. There are times when I actually think, "Damn, Dwayne Johnson actually appears to be a legitimate actor." I have never thought the same about Arnold. Arnold was an action hero and that's it. Dwayne Johnson is an action hero and a decent actor. The only reason he is not Arnold right now is because he hasn't gotten the parts for a movie like Predator, which is more a function of Hollywood not producing those types of movies as much anymore.

They don't need an actual physical specimen when they just CGI every major action film.

I know, I know, STFU Ace, you're old, blah, blah.

That's the truth though. They can GCI damn near everything from people to plants now, so why pay an actor to give you headaches.
