Have NFL games ever really been fixed?

I hear about it all time how NFL teams back in the day allegedly sell their team out to highest bidder.
Well, with the millions that those nfl players make now and transparency of the banking system, is it still doable? Heck is it even still doing?
What about for college teams or basketball teams?

i believe that officials, even to the day, are much more easily bought for such interests
heck, even look at some of these calls even when we have instant replay

IIRC during WWII two players were thrown out of the NFL just before the championship game for trying to fix it -- don't feel like looking it up
I've read that NFL games were being thrown well into the 1960s
Read up on Colts/Rams owner Carroll Rosenbloom and his mysterious death

it just seems like it would be very difficult for either a ref or a player to fix an NFL game... QB is the only position where it would be feasible.

QB would be the easiest but you could swing the game a few points from any position

I think it's much easier to be incompetent than to pull off a fix in football.

Football is a little more difficult to do because it is more of a team game. Basketball a little easier to shave points and we've seen cases of that. Two sporting events that stand out in my mind.
1. I will always believe something was wrong with Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals Lakers/Kings
2. My dad swears Neil O'Donnell was bought off in Super Bowl XXX

Why? Is it not believable that an elite superstar like Neil O'Donnell could suck on the world's greatest stage?

I think officials can pretty easily control scoring totals in how they call a game.

I don't think you could fix today's NFL. There is too many people involved.
Maybe referees could, but I don't see all of them being able to stay hush about it.

I don't actually believe he threw it, but I can see why someone would think it. There was no one within 5 yards of both Brown's interceptions. He threw it right to him.

I can understand back in day when Nfl players made shite for money but now even the weakest starter make millions regardless if suck or not, can vegad really offer that much money to match and would it be worth it to riamsk it?

Yeah, I believe Ed Hochuli was in a casino during the offseason leading to the 08 season and then had a slew of terrible calls that decided the outcome of games
I do believe that some of the refs gamble and it influences the outcomes of games, then you have the problem of the NFL with a track record of being partial to certain organizations in disciplinary matters. There is no reason to believe that it doesn't extend to the field
This has been the least enjoyable NFL season in a long, long time. The last month and a half I haven't really cared leading up to the games.
Every offseason I find myself less and less exciting. If you don't believe Roger is ruining the game, then just wait...In 20 years the NFL will see a sharp decline in popularity.
2006, tags last year, the NFL had unbelievable goodwill with the fans. Now that is spent. This league is in decline.

There are people that really believe the Colts -Jets Super Bowl was fixed.. The Colts were a 18 pt favorite and had some very questionable play results in that game....

...same folks believe the moon landings were a hoax, Johnson had Kennedy killed, and Bigfoot is real. Tin foil hats come in all sizes.

The 01 NFC title game. No way the Giants were that much better than the Vikings.
