Will be purchasing this rifle with a scope for Christmas (I'm Left-Handed). Was wondering if anyone know of any cool ways to customize this rifle i.e. attachments, personal inscriptions, etc.. Pics of yours would be really cool as well.

Not familiar with those

ETA: just looked it up. I have always wanted the ability to use both sights.

Thanks for the input

XS sight rail with ghost rings. Then add an extended eye relief scope with qd rings.

I'm hoping to pick up a Marlin 1895, and I think that's the route I'm going to go. I prefer to keep my face a little farther from the scope on a 45-70, especially if I plan to run some buffalo bore

I have the see through sights. Downshift has been marking off his deer kills on his. Do something like that. It isn't a black gun

Get a scout rail and a red dot, a little modern touch to the old school.

Personally, Id leave it with open sight and a leather sling.

Keep it simple. The Marlin 30-30 lever action is well balanced and easy to shoulder. It carries very easy and can unload all of its 30cal rounds very fast.

I wish I had some real nice iron sights but the old red dot that is on it is still working fine. Old Simmons red dot that is about 15+ years old. When it craps out iron sights it will be.

shot a few hogs with mine. Close 25 yds and under. Red dot on a running hog is nice. It has killed a small buck at 20 30 yds as well. I can rock the iron plates at 100 yds all day long

This is my walk the woods gun.

Be mindful of dot size. 2 MOA dot would be what you want for that range. Most will be 4-6 moa, and while you could use those, I wouldnt just to be ethical.

Just watched a video on the XS Sight System and really like the way the rail sits and looks. Will probably gas the red dot and go with a scope, but I did like how this guy side mounted a flash light that hangs off the top mount. Also like the option of ghost sites. May do a forward mount so I won't have to remove the front ghost site every time I want to take off or put on the scope.

Best gun I ever owned. I always hunted in places where shots where less than 100 yds, and it was always deadly. Two months ago somebody came to my house and decided they needed it more. I'm still pissed.

Just be prepared to do a little work on the XS Rail to get it to fit nicely. Don't know if it's their tolerances or Marlin's but I've had to do a little round-file work around the hole for the forward-most mounting screw (the one that takes up where the factory rear is) on two out of three I've done. Also count the screws they send and make sure they are the right size before you get started.

Be a real deer camp pimp and show up with an old lever gun open sights. Put up with the ribbing and put holes in shite.
