I don't always like Doyel, but this is a pretty good look at the comedy that is Texas Longhorns football right now.

I just do not see Nick Saban purposely getting into this mess at this point in his career. If he is going to leave Bama for a big chance, isn't it more in charachter to give the NFL one more shot?

Sorry if Germans...searched and did not find it anywhere.

I would expect a top destination like texas to conduct its coaching search in a much more streamlined manner. So far, they seem to stink at it.

He has 10+ million reasons
Every functioning human being wouldnt pass that up.

Get used to the fact that money trumps most everything else
Only it isnt just money, but a chance to cement as the GOAT head coach,
Nattys at 3 schools in a little more than a decade, what do you call that?
Exceptional coaching, and will prove the legacy.

In fairness, the college football world has changed a lot since the last time they were in the market for a head coach.

It's hard for Internet rumors to spiral out of hand when everybody was still on AOL. They charged by the hour.

Why does everyone harp on winning at 3 schools when he is already the only coach to win at 2 schools?

He thinks Texas should hire Gundy!

If the story of Mack stepping down doesn't get leaked by Chris Brown yesterday this isn't much of "coaching search" to discuss.

I didn't know this website existed when Bama was searching in 06 and 07 (and eventually hired Saban). But good lord those must've been crazy times on the internet

Yeah, but.. 2 points.

1. I'll believe that Texas will pay $10 Million a year for a coach when they actually do it.

2. For a guy with the massive ego of Nick Saban, it has to eat at him that the football establishment counts him as one of the biggest coaching failures in NFL history. On NFL Network's Top 10 coaches who should have stayed in college, he was #7 on the list.

yep... the funny thing is all these people leaking info to dudes like Chip Brown and even Chip Brown himself are only hurting the university's process... the more public knowledge that is out the there, the more difficult it becomes to conduct a search.

but people love to blab... and UT seems to have plenty of people willing to do it.

Saban's hire was bad, but the Miles-to-Michigan fiasco of early December 2007 was the greatest single period of Tigerdroppings history. Legends were made during that time, belowpar being one.

It makes this look like kindergarten.

Remember, Saban was also being mentioned as a possible replacement for Miles. Funny, I know, but he was 6-6 at Alabama at the time and the thought was that he would bail and come back to LSU if Miles left. Apparently, that was mentioned through back channels.

See what I mean? It was crazy.

The ultimate measure will be how many national titles he has.

Why would an NFL franchise hire him? Serious question. Especially for very much money.

Doyle doesn't know what he is talking about. Brown has known for a while he wasn't going to be retained. All of the drama that has been produced the past few days is Mack's doing. Hell, he's been treated a hell of a lot better than A&M treated Sherman, firing him while he was in the driveway of a recruit's home.

As for the search, it was carried out in a systematic, business-like way, which began months ago. Soon, the next coach will be revealed. Like I said earlier, Doyle has no clue of the details.

Well when Saban was at LSU and flirting with every NFL team that came by, the Bama fans started more threads on the Rant and stirring shite then you would believe.

And I suppose you do. Do you work in the athletic dept or for the 1 or 2 boosters that run your program because the university sure dosen't run it.
