Just a little article on the QB situation at LSU. We have a lot of talent at QB.

There will be no QB competition if Jennings stays healthy. Well, at least until Harris makes it to campus.

maybe for the backup spot

I feel for Rivers...seems like a good kid.

If he ends up transferring, hope it all works out for him.

What about the Rettig kid? Everybody on this board seemed to be really excited when he signed.

This could be the best group of kids we've ever had at the QB position. Let's see who emerges from the smoke!

Yeah it looks that way. If anyone is going to challenge Jennings I figure it'll be Harris.

He's 3rd for now. It's hard for me to imagine Harris breaking into a top 2 spot next year. As good as he is, I just think it will be difficult to manage. Jennings did it, so he could as well. I think rettig may be able to bump ahead of rivers by fall camp. A ton of options available.

The qb spot will be Jennings to lose. He would probably have to play bad in the bowl game and just flat out suck in the spring to be passed up on the depth chart.I'm sure bolden rivers rettig and harris will fight hard for the job. But after arkansas game he blew the competition away. Harris should redshirt next year. I dont like the idea of him coming in as a true freshman playing over guys who already has experience in the system.

Also no kragtgorpe. Im sure he gets tired of holding clipboards on the sideline. I kid. So glad to have him as a tiger, maybe he'll follow into coaching like his old man

Yeah, I think Rettig is the competition at this point. Rivers would need a Mett like arm to succeed with his mobility.

That article made it pretty clear that the only competition will be at the backup spots. Which is cool.. It'll be interesting to see how that shakes out.

The dual-threat quarterback isn’t anything new to LSU — remember Marcus Randall, JaMarcus Russell, Matt Flynn and Jordan Jefferson?

Ok...author lost credit there.

AJ, obviously, has the edge because of reps and what he did in the arky game. Rivers is now backup and unless AJ goes down we will probably never get to see what he has. Rettig, if he stays, will probably be #2 by the end of spring with Bolden at #3 and Harris, unless he blows up in camp, should grab a shirt. it really all revolves aroung who stays...and who geauxs.

Rettig was a big deal coming out of high school. If Jennings is deemed the starter, and with Brandon Harris coming in, I could see him transferring tbh. Sucks too, because I was happy when he committed. Don't know how mobile he is, but after having Mett for so long, and then seeing one drive by Jennings, it really made me see what a difference a mobile QB makes, especially in the SEC.

Eta: I'm not saying a Mett style QB doesn't work in the SEC, because obviously it did. Just saying imagine if JJ had an arm like Mett...

When you sign 2 QBs in the same class, more than likely, someone's going to get the shaft unless there are injuries or we have a JefferLee scenario where neither were that good.

Can we at least get through spring practice before anointing Harris as the number 2?

Lee and JJ were not in the same class.
