I'm going on a 4 day muzzleloader hunt in Christian County Kentucky from December 16-19th. I'm pumped! Any advice on what to expect or tips? I've only hunted Louisiana and Mississippi my whole life. Should I just hunt the plots or try and rattle deer in? I heard the first rut is over, but 2nd might be kicking off.

plots then rattle, especially with as cold as it is going to be

i was in Murray recently and they said they are having a killer season, go fish some white crap-a-lait at kentucky lake if you get a chance

Sac au lait you mean? I plan on hunting mostly all day, but if I get a chance I'd love to do some fishing.

Bro, do you even rattle?

The new Black Rack looks pretty cool, but I haven't tried it yet. Good luck man! Sounds cold but awesome!

I haven't tried rattling in years. I've never had any sucess with it and lost my rattling horns so time to upgrade on new stuff. I say I've never had sucess, but I've only hunted La and Ms.

Been in kentucky twice, the second time was a couple weeks ago. Both times the woods were best to hunt, both times zero bucks killed in plots and 4 bucks killed in woods. Their woods are not like the woods in la/ms... they are wide open and you can see 50-100 yards in spots. No under growth like here. Take corn, its legal in ky... if you are at a 2nd rut, get the does to the corn and the bucks will follow. Both times ive hunted ky the deer were MUCH more vocal, and responded well to grunts. Also if you hunt the woods you WILL hear them comming and you blood will be pumping! Good luck, Christian County is one of kentuckys top Boone and Crocket counties, i have a friend that guides hunts there!

I use old sheds we have found, I don't think the plastic ones sound the same.

U need real horns that are about the size of the deer in your herd. Otherwise you're pissin in the wind.

It takes a lot of patience, majority of the time I get skunked too but when you do get them to come in its a kick in the arse. I got this guy to within 10 yards 2 years ago.

I have one big shed I know. I'll have to see if I can find another one laying around. I can't wait, what grunt call do ya'll use and when do you find you get best results out there.

The only time I grunt is when I want them to stop to get a shot, I don't use one very often at all when rattling.
