Our farm had a terrible first split, so we have said screw it, let's go with a guide somewhere. I talked to a few guides around the Gueydan/Kaplan area and they said they did pretty good during the first split, but of course, only with the cold fronts. The guys at catahoula lake said they were burning them for a while, but now the lake has too much water and it has slowed down quite a bit. I even called Venice and one Captain said the ducks weren't there yet.

Can anyone recommend a good guide service I should try? I'm pretty much willing to go anywhere in LA to kill some ducks. I heard Jared Adams out of Hackberry has a pretty good setup.

Scout and find some public land. It may take some work but it'll be worth it.

Yes, they are killing out of HR&G but prepare anus, they aren't cheap. Look on their website. They love to take pics.

My buddy who has a spot in Klondike said it was the worst first split they have ever had and they kill more birds than anyone I know usually. Pecan Island is one of the few bright spots I have heard of down here.

Guy I went to high school with guides out of Venice. He's been doing very well this year from what I'm told.

xactly its hot garbage except for forst split coustal and 2nd split east zone if we have water. Shot the shite out of them last year at felsentahl but none at upper ouachita just south of there.Like they stop at the state line even north of shreveport in arkansas along the red they do good. Going to hit kansas if things dont shape up. lots of public shooting grounds and no sugarasses

I think we will try some Geese with Specklebelly Hunting Club by Lake Arthur. Anyone ever been with them?

I get depressed thinking about duck hunting now.
