I was at the Florida game earlier this season when the 2003 LSU Tigers championship squad was honored at halftime. It was an awesome occasion, especially with all of the former players there. My question is this: Most of the players from that team were there, except of course Marquise Hill, who tragically passed away several years ago. If I remember correctly, his mother and his child were there to represent him. Now, I am almost completely sure there was another player whose name was mentioned, but who also was represented by family. So my question is, other than Marquise Hill, was there another player from the 03 team that died? I know that that might not necessarily be the reason for this other player's absence, but if his family was there to represent him, that would be my first thought. Thanks!

Thanks for clarifying that for me ATL, I appreciate it. Man, that's so sad, what did he die from?

Man, that's sad to see these men die so young. It must be just devastating for their loved ones. He's still a Tiger Forever.

Interesting sidenote: our linebackers were much bigger back then - he was listed as 6'3'', 247 lbs.!

Isn't Jones, the punter still punting for Philly? Was he there?

LBs weren't even the celebrated part of that defense but they were good.

Yes, he beat out Brad Wing for the job.

it varied. Adrian Mayes was an OLB on the team and weighed like 210. Vaughn and Alexander were like 220-ish. Mayes and Alexander were both converted safeties.

Those two were beyond any doubt my favorite pair of ends on any team from any program in the history of the NCAA. Hill's height allowed him to bat down passes kinda like Shaq used to reject jump shots!

My favorite all time Tiger quote from a player will always be from Marquise Hill and it went something like people were going to have to respect LSU because we are going to punch them in the mouth til they do.

Simce we are on the subject, I think that we should all recognise that Marquise died trying to save a girl friend who was jet skiing with him and a couple of others. She fell and was sucked under by an undercurrent in Lake Pontchartrain on a rough day.

Someone really needs to correct me if I am wrong here but I believe that he was sucked under by the same current after jumping in after her and suffered the same fate.

I have been pulled under by undercurrents and can tell you all that size and strength means nothing in those circumstances. Furthermore, I believe that there might have been structure nearby that they may have been caught up in and held under by.

Turner was huge. His hit on Jason White is still a vivid memory.

One of the best plays in LSU history!

Are the currents really that strong in the lake? Didn't think they were...honest question. I assumed he drowned trying to find her in the water because you can't see shite.
