Of course it's hilarious cause of how it resulted, couldn't happen to a bigger prick. But get real.

It's a huge game, it's obvious the other team can score on you, You're on the road so you do everything you can to avoid overtime, especially on the road.

It's obvious his kicker has the leg and accuracy to make it.
The odds of a block are pretty low. Even if they do block it the odds the other team will recover are low. And even if they do recover the odds of them running it all the way back are even lower.

You have a decent shot of making it and ending the game. The odds of it landing in the endzone are low, The odds of them catching it in the endzone are low, and the odds of them running out and getting anywhere are as low as it gets. The odds of them returning it with no time on the clock are a million to one.

The only bone headed move would to be not and try that kick.

Now the Michigan coach going for two--that was bone headed.

Obviously, the ball must have hit a wire that stopped it from reaching the back of the endzone.

If you do everything you can to avoid overtime, don't run 2 draw plays before the kick. Saban made bad call after bad call in that 4th quarter.

I think bama would have been better off playing for OT, thus i felt it was the wrong call to kick the FG instead of throwing a shot into the endzone.

Hoke made the right call in going for the win at that moment. His guys didn't have much left and would have had a hell of a time trying to fight in OT. I just think they made a bad playcall by not having a run/pass option with Garnder....shold have rolled the pocket and given him better odds to score.

Ugh. Its not about the fg try

Its about the karma of the refs giving him that last second to try to win, and that second cost him a BCS championship

did you disagree with the fact that there was still time on the clock?

He made the right call. Its obvious saban had faith in his kicker otherwise he would have elected for a hail Mary. That kicker has probably made that in practice before, he just couldn't handle ?the pressure mounted on him. Still its funny how it happened. One thing for sure that will make teams around ?the nation reevaluate their field goal teams and put some athletes out yhere

How could one conclude this...are more 55+ yard FGs made or missed at the college level?

To repeat what ESPN guys were saying, where Saban screwed up was his team seemed totally unaware of the possibility of a return. They said the linemen didn't even realize the play was still alive until the returner was almost past them.

If Malzahn knew to put a guy back there, Saban should have known to atleast have his players looking for it after the kick.

It was a bad call, period. Throw the Hail Mary. The chances of losing on a Hail Mary are very, very slim. The FG had no prayer and the risk/reward was hardly worth it.

One of many shirts being "processed" in Auburn land now: "Hey, nick! Got a second?"

Absolutely. Now to be fair, the personnel on the field for Alabama, and rightly so, were not supposed to be good at a kick coverage and tackling play. But yeah they should have been told to spread the field and get in their lanes.

Which he should have done, or at least trust your heisman candidate QB to get you in position for an easier field goal.

Kind of dumb for a coach to put the kicker in that situation, no? The guy is 1-2 in his career with a long of 20. Why trust him with a 57 yarder but not a 35 yarder with a chance to make it a 2 possession game?

Yeah I agree. There was actually a pretty decent chance of it getting blocked and returned.

He said the guy makes them all the time in practice.

Granted practice ain't under that type of pressure. But it damn near went in, so obviously he has the leg. Even the best kickers of all time miss FG's they have the leg to make. This isn't complicated.
