quote:
I was a varsity tackle and a hell of a block
When I played my guitar
I made the canyons rock, but
Every Saturday Night
I felt the fever grow
Do ya know what it's like
All revved up with no place to go
Do ya know what it's like
All revved up with no place to go
These lines described a hell of a lot of small town kids at the time. It was like he was living inside my head when he sang this.

Great album, produced by Todd Rundgren, Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan from the E Street Band on drums and piano, members of Rundgren's Utopia filling out the band with Edgar Winter playing sax on a track.

i have no shame admitting 'bat out of hell' is a masterpiece. loved it then, love it now. i always said if springsteen wrote a broadway rock album back in the day, it would've been something like 'bat out of hell'....when i found out some of bruce's bandmates played on 'bat', it certainly strengthened my opinion, lol....
unfortunately, a combination of subpar writing + his voice crapping out prevented meatloaf from ever coming close to duplicating the quality of that album.....lightning in a bottle.
