Why doesn't LSU ever schedule baseball powerhouses for OOC weekends?

looking at the schedule for this year, we open with UNO here and there then finish the weekend with Grambling. It's already freezing that time of year. Nobody will want to go sit out there for those games. You'd think they'd get much better crowds if, for one fricking time, they'd schedule a UCLA, Texas, UNC, etc. It's baseball and the season is nothing like football. Even if we got swept, it wouldn't kill us. It'd even still help us because of SOS.

Thoughts?

I would call Cal St Fullerton a powerhouse and that was only 2-3 seasons ago.

Yale and Purdue went a combined 30-59 last year.

That's not bad.

We get a strong enough RPI boost from our SEC schedule. The good warm weather schools are all hosting cold weather schools. We also have to schedule opponents that do not require a return trip.

I get that but if we have to make a return trip, who cares? it's still going to help the SOS. Probably even more since we'd be playing at their place.

I know we just played them a few years ago but that was one weekend. It'd be nice if one OOC weekend a year we could get somebody worth a damn. Just a thought.

The revenue from not having 3 games at home.

true but wouldn't we make up for that with hosting sub and super's?

I completely understand, so let's bring in Penn State, Michigan, and/or Ohio State in for a round robin or 2 series.

All home games are sold out in advance. The only increased marginal ticket sales might be standing room only tickets for any games, which is a fractional amount compared to season ticket sales.

All of those teams would demand a return series which would cost the baseball program approx. $300,000 in lost ticket revenue for a weekend series. And that doesn't include lost revenue from concession sales and travel expenses.

Playing in the SEC is all we need from a SOS standpoint.

BS excuse....I'm sure LSU could work out a deal to where it isn't a huge financial hit. Hopefully now the stadium is nearly paid off they can stop with that BS.

I get what you're saying, but having a weekend road trip over a home series does not increase your chances of hosting a regional or super. The RPI boost is fractional when you narrow it down to couple games.

I'm assuming they would want a return trip, just like football?

However, I think it would be worth it. The LSU higher ups are just too damn concerned about home gate revenue to be bothered though...

How do you charge fans for tickets if there is no home series that weekend?

To be clear, I would be heavily in favor of LSU going out and playing a tough OOC series. I just understand why it's not something that happens.

LSU baseball = Florida Gators football. They don't travel.

We've done that the past two years anyway.

Your argument is baseless.
