Strength of schedule in FF

This is my first season playing fantasy football so I only really know how my league is. I'm 4-6-1 and out of playoff contention. If I played the schedule of one of 3 other teams, I'd be in line for the playoffs. So my question is, in other leagues, do they have balanced schedules where teams play the same teams an equal number of times?

It isn't necessarily weak teams, it is about playing teams at the right time.
In our college league this year, we played every team, every single week. I really liked the format cause it takes out what you are describing and rewards consistency.

10 man league & I play one team 3 times. No divisions. Figure that one out.

We do divisions based on draft position. So we play everyone in division twice, and everyone in the other division once.
I've head of leagues awarding two wins a week. If you win your head to head matchup you get one win, and if you are top 5 in scoring (in a 10 team league) you get another win. I've never played in a league like that, but I think it would be more fair.

For Yahoo leagues when the schedule is generated it is completely jacked up. This year in my 12 team league, it had each team playing only 9 teams and 4 of the teams twice. It was completely stupid and I have no idea how it ends up that way.
What I typically do is go through and change it. This year I changed it to where each team plays the 11 other teams and 2 teams in your division twice. But it's kinda a pain in the arse. It's a matrix like logic puzzle that'll piss you off especially if you take to time to try to make it to where the two teams your playing aren't nearby on the schedule (e.g. I play team A Weeks 1 & 3). It's an even bigger pain in the arse if you try to set up a rivalry week. I've done this the previous 2 years but this year I just didn't have the patience. Point is something can be done (at least in Yahoo) but its a pain for the commissioner to do it.

That's a good idea. I may try that next year.
