We played the Man Free defensive scheme and it really paid off in a big way.

Our DB's had man coverage with the safety free to help wherever necessary. No thinking, just he is yours. cover him. They looked totally comfortable with it. Our DB's, in my opinion, are quality athletes but have a hard time communicating and making adjustments in a zone type defense. Thoughts?
Been home an hour and scanned both boards. Sorry if germans but I did not see anything.

Yep. The team is built to play right man coverage. I cannot count the number of times I have yelled, "PLEASE GOD AND SWEET INFANT BABY JESUS MAKE CHAVIS STOP PLAYING ZONE!!!1!1!!1!!" at the TV this year.

Your passion for this to be, has reached the Chief telepathically, albeit slowly. Either sharpen your brainwaves, or send him some mail.

Chavis thrives on his corners on an Island, just leaves him more to work with in other areas. Problem this year has been all the youth, and frankly weakness with not having a MLB to shed blocks and clean up the line play...Well, the corners are starting to get comfortable, and A&M only ran 6 running plays(designed). So they didn't really test LSU's real weakness. Game plan and corner development killed A&M.

Yep, the Chief needed his corners, and the freshmen matured before our eyes. Jefferson looked good in what I saw. Future of D looking better.

We blitzed finally.
we did that and we finally made our DBs take responsibility for their man...and they did. Robinson was all over Evans and kept him from having a big day, and Trey White was only beaten on a push-off, then he slipped. both played their arses off and it paid off. Chief needs to remember this when scheming for other teams.
Man works...Zone does not.

Somebody just quoted Gordy Rush verbatim from last night post game on radio and didn't give credit.
Tsk tsk

What if the other team runs a different offense?

Blitz hard and often, and play man coverage.
If you don't do this in college football, then what are you doing? If you let offenses sit back there and pick you apart, they will do it with ease.
When receivers don't have as much time to get open, it's harder for your corners to get beat. We were blitzing multiple guys on a ton of plays last night. It was awesome to watch.

best technique i've seen from the secondary pretty much dating back to last season. rasco and hunter had good games which really helped.

I like the pressure game for both the Football and Basketball teams. Speed kills. Excites both the players and the fans. Pounce on em like Tigers.
