We were pounding the ball right thru them even though they knew we were running. I did not like the choice to kneel 3x and give them the ball. Heck, they had a Hail Mary shot on last play from OUR 40, no idea why they didn't throw it in the end zone. We should have continued to run it IMO and even score TD if applicable.

Good win no matter what falcons record, but I think Payton should at least review the clock management at end. Miles would have been degraded for giving the opponent even a slim chance.

Because it's Matt fricking Ryan.

If he needed a hail mary to win the superbowl, Ryan would most certainly dump it off; or failing that, he'd scramble for 4 yards and slide.

Yea I agree but it was a designed hook n lateral gimmick instead of Hail Mary - retarded (thankfully)

I usually abstain from these clock management conversations.

Because I don't fully understand the implications.
There's too many variables to consider usually.

I have a feeling there are others that don't fully understand, but they aren't as open about it as me.

The risk of continuing to run of course would be a fumble. Worked out for us, but still I would like to have sealed the deal.

Pretty sure it was their 40.

Nice comparison.

One coach is 9-2 and in prime position to take HFA throughout the playoffs.

The other coach is 5th in the sec WEST beneath Ole Miss.

Apples to rotten oranges.

CLM, is that you?

BTW, I thought Atl had it on their 40. Hence the hook and ladder.

OP: Let's talk about Sean Payton's time management.

"More like Les Miles lol"
"Did you see Les Miles' time management in the last game?"
"Man, that LSU game was rough. Miles probably agrees lmao."
"I wish there were fewer chain restaurants in Baton Rouge."
"shite, I wish Myles could be more like the Saints' coach, Shawn Peyton."

I'm not gonna get too mad at Payton regardless...I know he knows what he's doing, and if he fricks up once or twice, it happens, and he's earned that right, imo.

...I probably would have kept running...didn't have a problem with the kneeling though...thought the 4th down play was strange:

made more sense to me to leave a couple more seconds on the clock with worse field position than to give it to them with a chance to complete the hail mary -- they had no timeouts

Are you retarded?

The thread was never meant to be a comparison to Les Miles.

You people made it that way.

This. Actually I think it was around their 42, but yeah, when you figure Ryan would have had about a 7 yard drop you're looking at about 65 yards in the air to reach the end zone.

Spot on. Just a simple discussion about end of ONE game, not questioning his overall coaching ability.

I wasn't lucid but I remember thinking it would have been good to at least get the 3 points to have a 7 point lead if giving them ANY chance for a score.

I think we could have just kept running on them till time ran out.
