Independent Analyst: 50 to 100 Million Insurance Cancellations Coming..

next fall due to the ACA...

LINK

If this happens at even a fraction of that which is projected, the damage to Obama's legacy and the Democrat Party in general will be profound.

They needed an independent analyst to figure this out? I wonder what part of the law kicks in next fall?

In fairness, the independent analyst is a conservative think tank...meaning there is inherent bias...meaning maybe it will only be 25 to 30 million cancellations....

I'm really confused about the timing of the implementation. Did they believe this would truly go off without issues & everyone would love it so much they would immediately go out & vote for their nearest Dem?

Didn't they realize that even in the best case scenario some things would go wrong & give the other side good talking points - especially considering so much the country was opposed to this before it was implemented?

They could have timed this any way they wanted to and they decided to implement it with the midterm elections a 11 months after cutting middle class paychecks?

Sarcasm?

It will have to do with the one year delay given to businesses.

I have fantastic coverage. 100% paid for $1700 [high] deductible plan and $1500 a year put into my HSA by my company. I'm worried that will be changing along with millions of other Americans.

no. that's why they ensured that the effects wouldn't be felt until after the 2012 presidential election

however, the timing could be TERRIBLE for the 2014 midterms. there have to be a bunch of DEM lawmakers who are pissed

Right. We all knew exactly why it was timed after the 2012 elections but waiting until 1/14 was dumb, too. Idk if there was ever a good time for this but up when I used to be involved with a benefit rollout for a newly acquired entity & I knew it wouldn't compare well with their previous health insurance, I rolled it out early & let the pissing die down some before a bot event.

All the Republicans have to do next year to beat a Democratic opponent is run ads asking this

"Did you lose your insurance when the individual mandate kicked in?" "Did you enjoy that?"

"Will you be one of the people who loses their insurance through your work when half of them lose their coverage when the employer mandate kicks in?"

"Think that's going to be fun?"

The Democratic party voted 100% for it, and have followed their marching orders to defend it no matter what.

Good reason to vote Republican wouldn't you say?

Ummm..the postponement of the Employer Mandate is not that old AND the news now is that cancellations are happening and the Admin response is "it is only 5%, blah blah". This is in response to the 'its not so bad' meme out of those that foisted this crap upon us.

I HATE hackery. It is perfectly reasonable to hold the view that one supports the ideology and/or agenda. But, it is hackery to refuse to call out incompetence and dishonesty.

I would have so much more respect for far left leaning posters if they would say "I support all of this man's goals. But, he is incompetent at implementation and dishonest in addressing the issues"

I revere my dad. I would say he is not competent to be POTUS or even Apple CEO.

Anyone with a brain has been saying this since before he even signed the bill into law. There have been numerous studies prior to implementation that have said the same thing. When confronted with this information over the last three years lib/progs have responded (predictably) in two ways: (1) this is just GOP fear-mongering, or (2) so be it, this will just usher in single payer faster.

True, but do you know how many thousands of pages of regulations have been added to the bill since its passage?
