I've read that on here, and now I'm hearing it from newly cocky Auburn fans blaming it for their one loss. How in the hell did rain give an advantage to a balanced run/pass offense but disadvantage a predominantly run offense? All my life wet turf and a wet ball has been said to hinder the passing game more than the running game. Was I taking an old man nap when the memo was circulated changing that line of thought?

Editors note: I considered whether this thread would be more appropriate for the SEC Rant, but then I remembered I never go to that dreadful place.

it's football. if you use fricking weather as an excuse for defeat, then you are retarded. lsu played in the same conditions and went up like 28-0. auburn's gimmicky offense sputtered in the stiff dew and their defense couldn't make stops. and the best part is, all this occured while lsu was basically looking ahead to the georgia game. what it boils down to was they got their arse kicked.

Meh. You'll hear LSU fans explain the Cap One loss to Penn State using the same reasoning, as if the two teams played on a different field. Dealing with field conditions is part of the game. Always has been.

And those people are idiots too. We beat Auburn's dick into the dirt and they hate that fact.

We actually were a better team when we played Auburn, they look at us now and see this game as winnable. Which at this point in the season is alot more plausible because something happened to LSU in the OM game that the team hasn't gotten over. They feel like the LSU game is the flaw on the work of art that is their season. Also, they forget they should've lost against UGA. And like the previous poster said, aubies are idiots.

I'll go you one better. When I first moved to Dallas in the mid-90's; Aggy played Air Force and got their arse beat at Air Force. The excuse was, the altitude caused A/M problems.

Way more legitimate of an excuse than rain IMO. Altitude is something you can get used to and when you're not used to it and can be a major disadvantage.

Maybe for fat out of shape people. I used to cycle competitively and trained in New Orleans, NEW ORLEANS!!! I would race in Colorado in the rockies and did fine. Colorado Springs isn't nearly as high as the rockies. It has to do with conditioning. You don't see the Saints making this excuse when they play in Denver or any other NFL team for that matter.

Pretty much if they are saying this. It'll all be moot anyway when Alabama stomps them by 20 next week anyway.

Also tired of hearing how Auburn would beat LSU if they played now. I call bullshite. That wasn't some close game where experience gains them an extra score or two. We dominated them, and outside of two really nice deep passes they completed the score would've been even more lopsided.

The thing with that is that we were much quicker than Penn State was. We aren't quicker than Auburn. The rain hinders the quickness and speed. It hindered both Auburn and LSU, maybe auburn more b/c of the misdirection type offense they run.
The rain for the capital one game was much more of a hindrance on LSU than PSU. It basically made us play on equal playing grounds as far as quickness went, and there was a huge advantage in LSU's favor on both sides of the ball on a dry field, whereas there isn't a huge speed and quickness discrepancy on a dry field between auburn and LSU.

Regardless, weather isn't an excuse for losing.
