I just started a few weeks back. I kept seeing Dabney Coleman as the postscript in the opening credits.
I said, he must show up pretty late. About 3/4 of the way through (roughly his 3rd or 4th appearance, I figure), I realized.
WAIT - the Commodore is Dabney Coleman - sonofabitch he got old.

Awesome.
There's been a few decent cameos by known actors in the show as well. James Cromwell comes to mind in later seasons. And multiple Office Space actors. You'll enjoy it.

How can you not tell by his voice?

That's ultimately how I got it - but, again, after 3 or 4 appearances. I noticed his name in the credits for the first episode and was looking for him.

Okay, all cleaned up in the final episode of Season 1, he looks like "old" Dabney Coleman ought to look (although he still looks really, really old. The whole dying, disheveled look, coupled with the fact that he is and looks extremely old threw me at first.
