I went so long ago, before it was hip. Now it's a high price resort area. Think where the desert meets the ocean. Marlin and huge tuna. Golf and good food.

stayed at the Palmilla Resort many moons ago. Very nice, but very expensive.

Just got back from Cabo last Thursday. San Jose is not as nice as Cabo San Lucas. Stay somewhere close to Medano Beach. Good food and drink all over. Good deals to be found on vrbo. We did the all inclusive and I wouldn't do it again. Food is real good in town and relatively inexpensive.

Medano Beach is the area you want to be. Search this board, I've posted numerous suggestions. You'll find some good stuff.

Grand Solmar at Land's End is the place to stay (ranked #4 out of 67 resorts). Their sister property Capella Pedregal gets more praise on websites (ranked #1 of all resorts in Cabo), but we have stayed at both and found Grand Solmar to be much more enjoyable overall. Here are some pics. Their sushi is actually damn tasty!!
Dining options are incredible, here are some of our favorites:
Hacienda Cocina y Cantina
Javier's
Los Barriles
The Office (for breakfast)
Tacos Guss for late night grub...yes that's the drunk wifey. #nb4IWNHI, #nb4IWHI, #nb4nudepics?, #nb4OT1

Medano beach is perfect! .....if you truly prefer vendors relentlessly peddling knock-off sunglasses, replica soccer jerseys, fedora hats and any club drug of choice.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS BEACH IF YOU ARE OVER 18.

I see what you're saying about the peddlers but if you tell them no, they leave you alone. Both places you listed are very nice, in fact, we almost stayed at the Grand Solmar. For us, looking at Lands End vs. looking at the Pacific led us to Medano Beach.

We already have our resort and I am happy about the location. Was looking more for food specific ideas in San Jose del Cabo.
