Senate won't bring Upton fix to floor

quote:

Senate Democrats do not expect to vote on the ObamaCare fix the House approved on Friday with 39 Democratic votes, according to a senior Democratic aide. The aide said there is not any pressure on the Senate Democratic leadership to bring the legislation sponsored by Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) to the floor.

quote:

“There is a difference between constructive fixes designed to improve the law and bills that would gut it,” said the senior Democratic aide. “The Upton bill is the latter.” Upton’s bill would allow insurance companies to offer the less expensive, limited plans that do not meet all of the more stringent requirements under ObamaCare.

quote:

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) has sponsored rival legislation that would require insurance companies to offer the old plans. She has panned Upton’s proposal. “The House bill guts and undercuts and drives a Mack truck through the Affordable Care Act by not only allowing people that had policies to keep them but allowing new people to sign on,” she said. “Their whole purpose is to undermine and throw the markets out of wack and make the Affordable Care Act not work.”

Maybe this works out for the better.

GOP lucks into it again.

I think Dems would wipe the floor with Reps if they let this thing pass because then the Reps lose all distance from the clusterfrick.

You mean, like the promise that Obama made over and over and over again to sell this complete piece of sh!t legislation.

This isn't the bill that bothered me as much as the senate bill. Everyone knew this one would die in the senate.

But I stand by my belief that a dem vote for either of them provides the cover that they need for the mid terms

Neither will become law but both provide fodder for political ads that will accuse them of the consequences of voting for obamacare to become law.

And it was stupid for a republican to help them out. It had zero chance of passing and symbolically gave the Dems a chance to say that they tried to fix it. Knowing it was doomed from the start, and could only help them politically, with no downside.

Obama should put his name on Mary's bill because even though he will veto it, it was most likely his idea to try to save the senate.

Smoke and fricking mirrors. And the average voter thanks these pricks and asks for a second helping.

This temporary fix to help some of the people getting screwed by Obama has to be supported by the Republicans, it would be worse to come across as trying to frick the public.

I think the computer glitch is not the big problem Obama faces, when the computer works and people see their premium prices the shite hits the fan again, and he has no fix for that.

This may be the gift that doesn't stop giving but the Republicans can't act like it is.

You did call it, udtiger

Now, the Repubs need to just walk away and let Dems choke on their own stupidity.

Obtw, funny how this started out about helping people who didn't have insurance. Period. Now, Dear Leader is wanting to tell people what kind of plan they have to have.

There is NO WAY Obamacare is going to be successful. Kinda funny that it's odummy's signature piece of legislation that is going to sink him.

The Dems in the most danger, in the senate, will not get a chance to vote on Upton's bill. Those 39 Dems in the House aren't saving their asses and the GOP ain't losing control of the House.
