Mett, Hill, Beckham, Landry: The Quartet's stats, milestones, records (LONG)

Posted on 11/14/13 at 11:37 pm
First some of my Observations based strictly on stats
Mett is 3rd least in pass attempts in the top 40 QBs but ranks #12 at QB. Which means that he get's a lot of quality throws over quantity. Mett's YPA is the third highest of that same group which tells me that he is more prone to hitting the big play and that his team is more oriented on going down field.
Beckham's 8th ranking (tied with one other)for least receptions but 7th ranking for the top 40 WRs tells me that he is a very explosive player who does a lot with a little. Going even further, is the fact that 5 of those WRs are ranked 32 or lower for WRs. Looking even deeper at his 4th ranking for YPR average tells me that he is a dangerous deep threat WR.
Landry's is more tricky unless you have the right stats or see him blocking. He is the complete package with elite blocking, hands, agility, physicality, reliability (3rd Down King), spectacular play ability, body control, catch in traffic, leaping, and route running.
Hill is 4th(tied with one other) for least carries in the top 40 of RBs, but ranks 19. This tells me that he utilizes his carries more effectively than the majority of RBs. There are also only 5 RBs with a higher YPC average than him in the top 40 meaning he breaks more big runs than most of the best.
LSU Milestones that will be set against TAMU and New Record
***********************************************************************************************
Zach Mettenberger -- First single season 3000 yard QB since 2006 Jarmarcus Russell
Odell Beckham Jr -- First single season 1100 yard receiver since 2001 Josh Reed
Jarvis Landry -- First single season double digit TD receiver since 2009 Brandon LaFell
Jeremy Hill -- First single season 1000 yard and 1100 yard running back since 2010 Stevan Ridley
Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry -- Now I don't know the last time 2 college WRs have went over 1000 on the same team in the same season or how rare it is, but without looking at the record book, I can safely say LSU has never accomplished it
Draft Videos

Zach Mettenberger
vs Mississippi State 2013
vs UAB (2013)
vs Alabama 2012
vs Florida 2013
Odell Beckham Jr.
vs North Texas,Florida,Alabama,Arkansas 2012
vs Mississippi State 2013
vs UAB (2013)
Jarvis Landry
vs S.Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi St, Ole Miss, Arkansas & Clemson (2012)
Jeremy Hill
vs Mississippi State 2013
vs South Carolina 2012
vs Florida 2013
Also don't know when was the last time a college team had a 3000 yard passer, two 1000 yard wide receivers, and a 1000 yard running back all in the same season.
Hell we should finish with a 3500 yard passer, two 1200 yard receivers, a 1400 yard back, and 3 skill players with at least 10 TDs
Despite everything else, this season on offense should break the record books

Mett/ODB/Landry have been an exciting trio to watch

And given LSU's complete ineptitude the past several years on offense, this OUGHT TO make LSU fans happy. I mean...it doesn't obviously, but it ought to.
As for me, it's easy to look at this year as an anomaly based on 4 particularly talented guys coming together at one time. No doubt there's something to that. I also like to see that the offense, with these same four guys, struggled last year with a different OC. As such, I think CC has made a HUGE difference and expect solid offense for a while.
I guess that's just me pumping sunshine...

Hope Cam sticks around for a while

As do I.
I see Cam similarly as I do Chavis, in that I think this may be his final stop. Cam's done the HC thing, he's done the NFL thing...and now he's at a stop with his great friend where he's having success. I think Cam stays as long as Les does. Just a hunch...

First one to come to mind, and I don't like it, but 2005 USC
Leihart 3800 passing 28TD
Bush 1700 rushing 16TD
White 1300 rushing 24 TD
Jarrett 1200 recieving 16 TD
Smith 957 recieving 2TD

Great post!
Really love what these guys have done this year.
Hate to bring negativity but look how bad the Offensive line is blocking at 2:50 for Mett's highlights in the Miss. State game
