When was the last time LSU started a season outside of the top 25?

despite what most people on this board thinks, the people who do rankings look at a lot more than previous records.
How about the fact LSU will have a dual threat that has had 1 more year than Mettenberger to learn Cam's system?
What about that inexperienced defense not losing anyone, getting better, and maybe adding some very young playmakers?
How about previous recruiting class ranks?
God we finished 2008 unranked and started the season and entered 2009 ranked 11 or 12. it would take a couple years of 4-6 loss seasons and really bad recruiting classes before we saw LSU start a season actually unranked.

Not a possibility. I don't care if we lose badly to both aggy and arky. We've earned enough respect to be given the benefit of the doubt over whoever the projected 26th best team will be.
