So on Oct. 23rd, I submitted an application for a position. An HR rep called me on the 4th of November and asked me if I would apply to a different position.(position had more stringent requirements). She sent me an e-mail with the information, I told her it was a good opportunity, and I would apply. She said great, as soon as I get your app in the system, I'll set up a time for us to talk. So, I completed the analysis piece required for that position(first one had no analysis piece) and put it through on the 7th(deadline was 8th).

I have yet to hear from her, and was thinking I would have by now. The position starts in mid-december, so the timing is extremely tight, which makes me think they'll want to act pretty quickly.

Should I send out a follow-up email, or should I wait?

Send a follow up. Express your interest again. Keep it short and sweet. Nothing wrong with a quick follow up email.

Ditch the email. Send a hand written letter.

Since she called you, why not call her back?

Should I call her? I'm not really sure, here. Thats why I figured I ask, the money board is usually money on this type of stuff.

It would take a week or longer to get her a handwritten letter. That'll arrive too late no matter what happens, I'm pretty sure.

Pick up the phone.

HR folks are the worst and probably forgot about it.

Give her a phone call in order to verify that she received the application.

"Ms X, I just wanted to follow up per our last discussion about that new role. I went ahead and got my app in the system and I wanted to verify that you had received it."

Agreed on the follow up call - just a simple "wanted to say thanks and let you know i filled out the required application, want to make sure it made it to you as the opportunity sounds great. let me know if you need anything else from me"

THIS. I had a guy STALK me just this past month after I interviewed him and said I'd like to offer him a position.

He called me every day after wards, every few hours.

I decided not to give him the job.

Good. At least she knows you're still interested in the job.

As always, I appreciate the guidance gentleman.

If I get the job, I'll buy you all a beer. At some $1 happy hour cause I'll still be poor, but at least I'll be an employed poor.
