The 80's OT thread reminded me of this...

Anthony Wilson hitting winning shot vs. Memphis State.

And I believe that's a young Johnny Jones hugging Daddy Dale... Youtube of Winning Shot

Underrated? I still have the VHS copy of the final 2-3 minutes shown on WAFB.

Great moment in LSU b-ball history.

Those two opening round wins at the Assembly Center were pretty much the impetus for the NCAA changing the rules to not allow opening round games in a school's home arena.

Those two games were pretty much the Deaf Dome at its finest.

I just never really hear anyone talk about that game... You hear the final four teams, Kentucky upset and Shaq years of course but I think that moment doesn't get the attention it deserves as far as all time upsets.

Has cox sports ever don a replay of that game?(I don't have Cox Sports).

That team was a Final Four team.

As a kid, I was in the Assembly Center for the 2OT win over Purdue in the first round. I always liked how we won at home, and then in the Sweet 16 beat a loaded Georgia Tech team in Atlanta.

Awesome day. It was a double header in the Assembly Center. This game followed GT vs. ??? We went to Atalanta and spanked 'em.

I was at the 2OT win over Gene Keady (Coach Combover) and Purdue.

I went to all the games that day. Skipped a whole day of classes.

ETA: now that I think about it, that's not quite true. I think I had MWF classes that semester and the games were on a Thursday.

I was in high school. I remember Georgia Tech, with John Salley, coming to practice at my school and we got to watch them during PE.

Anthony Wilson

Plain Dealing representing!

Loved his wrist bands and the way he would slide away from the shot after release.

Good times
