Steam acting stupid, need some help

downloaded mw2 today just for the hell of it, I'm trying to play mutiplayer.
Every time I click "play" it says "failed to start game with shared content. please update these games first"
WTF.. I have game updates set to priority too.

right click on the game in your library, go to properties, click on the "Local Files" tab and hit "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" this will catch any missing or corrupt files. if that doesnt work, uninstall/reinstall mw2, if that doesnt work, uninstall/reinstall steam... if that doesnt work then find a new game, good luck

I haven't had any steam problems yet but check the forum for their games. Often times if the problem is common there will be a thread for it
