I was there. Great game and a pivotal win.

In 2001, the idea of LSU playing in the SEC CG felt like it had the same possibility of finding a unicorn.
I liked in the last minute of that video when Verne said people were unhappy with Nick Saban in Baton Rouge, that they were tired of the team under achieving.
We won the West that year with three losses, seems impossible to believe now.

I believe many LSU fans rank 2001 as one of their favorite seasons.
An added bonus from that season was the de facto SEC West Championship game against Auburn.

That last Saturday of the regular season was a semi-finals day in the SEC. On the little brother side, the showdown was Aub@LSU for rights to go to Atlanta. Earlier in the day, #5 Tennessee shocked #2 Florida at Florida to win the SECe.
Tennessee was #2 going into the SECCG and ready to play Miami in the Rose Bowl. [Junior & Lulu pic here]
