Sebelius says a felon could handle your personal info

toddstarnes ?@toddstarnes 19m
Sebelius admits it's possible a convicted felon could become an Obamacare navigator and handle personal info. Sweet mercy...

Convicted felons are allowed to have jobs, right?

I'm with you.

I'm just surprised it's possible to get a federal job with a felony conviction.

Do you want convicted felons handling SSN, parents names, etc?

Does identity theft ring a bell?

Yes, to a point. Some states have laws that prohibit certain felons from holding certain jobs (for example, anyone in Texas convicted of a felony cannot serve as a law enforcement officer).

But EEOC recently issued new "guidance" which effectively overturns those laws (Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has filed suit, stating that the new "guidance" violates the powers that Congress has delegated to the EEOC).

She said it is possible, because the Fed doesn't require background checks on people doing the navigating. Said it is up to the states whether they want to do extra work and force background checks.

Convicted felon doesn't mean convicted of identity theft.

A person with three DWI's in Louisiana can be a convicted felon. A person who buys an ounce of pot to chief on can be a convicted felon.

I'm just saying, there shouldn't be an outright prohibition on convicted felons holding this specific job. I'm all for rehabilitation, and prohibiting work, in this case, doesn't promote that.

Three DWI convictions doesn't support strong decision making, intelligence, or care for others.

That's exactly who I want handling my sensitive information.

True, but it certainly means you have lack of judgment skills. And I don't want those types of people handling all the sensitive types of information necessary to sign up for Obamacare.

Eh.. sort of exactly like what IndependentGeorge said.

Since 2007 there has been 7 releases/roll outs of the iOS operating system. Yet these buffoons can't even get this "program" running in 3 years?... With a multi billion dollar budget?

How can anyone in their right mind possibly think that they are really going to be able to manage this?

They can handle it just well enough to screw the citizens once again.

not all felons are created equally. I know several felons that I like and several that are shitty people that I don't like. Being a felon in general just doesn't tell you a lot about a person anymore in my opinion.

good, because criminals rarely continue to commit crimes, especially crimes so easily presented to them!

I mean recidivism is near zero, right!

Or someone convicted of fraud and identity theft!

good to know there is NO protections at all...but hey, they got 20 hours of training!

Tells me they have bad judgement and that they broke the law and didn't and maybe can't abide by civilized rule.

Considering the sheer amount of laws on the books, both federal and state, you've likely committed at least one felony in your life, but you didn't get caught.

I don't trust you to handle my information.

not necessarily. to me breaking a law doesn't always mean bad judgement.

that they broke the law

definitely tells you that.

yeah our founding fathers and mlk jr were both guilty of this so I don't know how you could just blindly hold it against people. Case by case basis as to whether their disobedience of rules is a bad thing or good thing.

Or maybe not.

So, perhaps, Gov't should be less intrusive and let local and state rights take care of things, rather than massive federal gov't bs?

Probably wise. I trust very few, and no strangers.
