I have a 2006 Ford F-150 4x4. For some reason the four wheel drive isn't engaging. When i switch to four wheel drive it shows I'm in low or high on the dash and I hear it click in; but nothing. Put me in a real bind this weekend.
I figure it has something to do with the vacuum system. Any input or past experience would be appreciated.

My hubs would go out and to that. There is a way to test it by turning on the defrost or something, but I can't remember it right now

Something upwards of the transfer case.
Hubs would be my first guess

Took about 5 minutes to replace mine, but I don't think the f150s have lockout hubs.
Turns out they are vacuum actuated. IWE solenoid seems to be a big problem LINK Jack up the whole truck, put it in 4wd, and see if the driveshaft is turning. It should be because the light doesn't blink, but you should narrow it down.
You could also drop on tire to the ground up front, while the back is still on jackstands and see of the elevated one turns. Do that with both sides
My thought process isn't working so well right now because I have been studying for 12hrs straight, but give it a shot
