Just curious about how ammo is managed when in a war zone. Do you have to document spent ammo and what not? Like LE?

How's that all work?

Sometimes ammo just gets used. Maybe that camel spider did need a whole belt of 5.56 to send a message to the others....

We don't turn ammo back in once the box is broken.

This.

We were allocated a certain amount of ammo. After that it was pretty much considered gone by the bean counters. There was not turning it back in. You used it.

Damn right that ammo gets used. You don't piss off higher by not using ammo you requested.

I was in Iraq in 04-05. Got ammo issued. Shot ammo. Got ammo issued. Repeat the process.

Don't know if it's changed much since.

Always a good idea to steal another unit's supply so that way you can frick off without anyone wondering why you request so much ammo.

You have to turn in an ammo expenditure report. Its based off your LACE/ACE report and in an SIR/CCIR format. No big deal

In Iraq in 05 they didn't care at all. Then in 07 it wasn't too bad but you might have to write something up. In 08/09 you better have bullet holes in you or your vehicle if you fired and then you had 4 different documents to fill oit. And God forbid you didn't radio in to the right people during and after the firefight.

They didnt seem to give a damn. When I got my bags out of one of the shipping containers and opened it when I got home I found a 30 rd mag in one of my pouches still.
