Should I go to BB, GameStop, etc after the midnight release and hope they got in a few extra to sell retail?
My podnuh works at GS and said they don't really know how many they'll get in.

I would say go to some small town walmarts at midnight on launch, chances are you can get one right then and there and if not within a week or two when they get more.
