Tinseltown and Boardwalk theaters in Shreveport and Bossier both say they will not be showing 12 Years a Slave. At all. When asked why (over the phone), both said something to the effect of, "It's an art film. . . It will only be playing in places like Dallas, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans."

What the absolute frick? How can they not be showing this movie, at all?! I can understand a late release (today is the wide release date), but I don't understand how/why they wouldn't be playing it at all. Makes no sense.

Anyone have any thoughts/insight on why this might be? Is driving to another city or waiting for BluRay my only chance to watch it?

I have seen the TV commercials for it and I only watch the News and college football mostly.

Robinson says they may or may not be showing it at a future date. Sounds like they're trying to get it, though.

RFC's my preferred movie joint. But I'd rather watch a movie when it's released (rather than weeks later), so I seldom go there.

flicks like this generally dont open in that many theaters b/c the big chains dont believe they are money makers.

I can guarantee there's demand for it in Shreveport.
