My question is this...
How many "negas" and fence sitters would give CLM his proper due if he won another NC here at LSU?

If he had won on 1/9....would most folks give him a pass for infrequent clock blunders and questionable game planning?

If he had won 1/9....arguably the greatest season in CFB history (wins over Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl champs, a #1 vs #2, a #1 vs #3 win) yeah he would've had a pass.

if he had won 1.9, i'd give him all the fricking passes he want. If I had a front yard, i'd give him a pass to shite in my front yard.

I'd take him all day, with or without.

CLM his proper due

Any LSU HC who affords me the pleasure of watching my LSU football team play for 2 BCS titles in his 8+ yr career, gets all the "due" in the world from me.

I mean, it's not like that's something LSU has ever seen before in 120+ yrs of football.

We loss a NCG and played poorly in doing so. shite happens. We also went undefeated in the regular season for the 1st time in 50 yrs and went undefeated in the SEC for the 1st time in 50 yrs.

Some need to get over it and move on. imo

Not true. You guys would still be finding shite to bitch about because he isn't Saban.

100%

I love Les, and I hope he coaches us until the day he retires, but a win in that game to complete the greatest college football season of all time would have shut up all negatigers for good.

Had he won 1/9, he would have been chastised for not having repeated in 2012.

He could've bumped himself into one of the greatest current coaches had we won. He's been great for our school and our program at large. People just love to hate him, but the bulk of us have stood behind him.

he didnt.

he was utterly embarrassed.

we know the reality. Losers whine about what-if, winners hoist crystal.

Yes.

1.9 was a pivotal game in his career, and in shaping the opinions of many regarding Les Miles.

It was not just losing the BCS championship game after that terrific season. It was the WAY we lost. No offense. Not showing up prepared for a team that is our arch rival and whom we played tough in the regular season. If we had won, people would still be talking about that season and team as a benchmark for others. Instead, we are an asterisk on Alabama's consecutive nat champ run. And, it was mostly the coach's fault.

A deer in the headlights. Poor Les absolutely froze in the second half. NEVER tried anything different, NEVER tried to mix it up. NEVER tried to catch a spark with a new QB or anything. Down 15 with 8 mins left we were still huddling and running the ball between the tackles.

He froze. That game was the definition of a choke (when the moment is literally too big for your nerves and your mind/body shut down).

He will never win another NC. His game-day coaching is horrible. His recruiting is up and down.

I agree with a lot of what has been said.
I also believe that any coach, whether you're talking high school, college, or NFL, can have a great run one year if all the chips fall right with injuries, SOS, one awesome player (newton), lucky breaks, and what not.

I also believe that what characterizes a great coach for some people is the ability to win a second one, if for no other reason than to dispel any thoughts about the first one being a fluke like Chiznik for Aubie.

Yes, obviously. But he didn't win, he was made to look loike a fool..again.

In fact, I would say he didn't even have to win on 1/9. We all knew beating Bama twice was a tall order and it was BS in the first place that we had to play them again.

I really think, Miles could have shaken off a lot of his detractors and even won many over if the team would have just showed up on 1/9 prepared to play. The fact that the team came out so flat and uninspired combined with the fact that Miles made absolutley no adjustments to even try to win makes it hard to ever look at him in a positive light again.

If he could have just made the 1/9 game respectable. A win would have made him a legend, even a close well played loss would ahve done him well. But we got an abslolute trainwreck of a clusterfricked disaster.

That right there is a sad but true statement for too many on this board. I kind of feel bad for them if this carries over into other parts of their lives.

They can't be happy with any success because of what someone else has...
