Those things are pretty friggin bold. The salmon fishermen (illegally) will shoot them to the lessen the population. Every now and then you'll hear the distinct "pop" from a side arm. And you know it's coming from the deck hand on one of the stick boats nearby.

Here's a pick from my last trip to Mexico. The bastard came and grabbed what would have been about a 20lb yellowtail.

They can be some vicious critters. I've seen them take fish off lines before but they'll challenge humans for territory or food. Several have been put down in the fishing village of Petersburg 100 miles South of here for charging people on the dock.

that GIF is funny, but given the nature of Stafford's dive over the top, would be even funnier showing Stafford jumping up and snatching the fish.

You'd get arrested too.

Seals are something salmon fishermen deal with all the time. PIA

when the steelhead and salmon start running the seals head to the dam and sit there right at the fish ladders and wait. frick seals. I've seen four fish taken by seals in an hour before.

I've had them buzz me when I was sea cycling (cool contraption) once. Actual attacks on humans are rare but they can cause serious injury.

The Stellar Sea Lion has just been removed from the endangered species list.
