Lindy's 2013 basketball preview has Sampson checking in at #15 overall player in the nation . 6'5 SF weighing in at 185 lbs. Anyone has the scoop on this guy? Ben Simmons checked in at #12

247 has him listed under prep school athlete

I'm sure LSU is involved, especially since they didn't take a 2 in the 2014 class.

On a side note, could most of these "highlight" videos be any more worthless? The only take away is that the guy can dunk, and apparently make one jump shot.

Johnny could close out the 2015 class with Louisiana prospects and probably have at least a top 10 class .

Ben Simmons ESPN #4
Melvin Frazier ESPN.#36
Brandon Sampson ESPN #41
Chad Lott rivals #133

I realize it's still early, but there's alot of recruiting activity around Sampson & Lott. Not so much with Melvin Frazier. Sampson seems to be the biggest priority out of the three just based off his offer sheet. Looking forward to seeing these guys play soon.

unless he put on a ton of weight since the summer, he's not 185 lbs. more like 155 or 160. i think he is a top 100 prospect but having him at 15 in the country is kind of crazy. I would take Chad Lott and Melvin Frazier over Sampson because they proved themselves against better competition on the aau circuit. With that being said, Sampson will go high division 1 because of his upside.

Do you think Lott will be a big priority for the staff in 2015?

I know so. He has an offer for a while. He'll continue to move up on year 2 of EYBL.

Looks more like a SG instead of a SF, but I guess we will have to see how much he grows

I agree. I don't think he's a SF right now. He looks smaller than 185 lbs.

It's pretty hard to tell this far in advance. But what we do know is for 2013 we have the full complement of 13 scholarship players and only 2 guys are seniors, for 2014 we already have 3 commits, so I would go to bet we have another 13 scholarship players next season as well. Odo and Hickey will be the only seniors for 2014, assuming JOB III goes pro after this year.

Looks like maybe a class of 3 for 2015.

As others have said, I'd like to see the staff sign an athletic small forward. Hopefully, thats Bolden.

It'll depend on the progression of Mickey and Martin, but I know for sure that we're taking 1 SG, 1 SF (which I think Ben Simmons can be unless he keeps growing), and 1 PF/C. We can take one PG to replace Hickey and we have a ton of depth in the post. Wings are going to be the highest priority.

We'll have 2 seniors then (Hickey and Odo as JOB should be gone). If Martin stays till his sophomore year, then that opens up another spot for the 2015 class.

That's why I was curious about Lott. You think he's a two guard?
