As a reason for requesting a ticket price increase next year, Aleva indicates the Athletic program is $2M in the red. He indicates that for the Athletic Program to keep giving the University $7M/year(a subtle power play at the Board)) it will reequire the increase. With all the money they are throwing at coaches, in particular, the Football coaches, I can see why. Miles at $4.3M only has two other head coaches who make more than him-guess who one is? When they hired Cam,-(which was needed btw) they agreed to pay him around $1M and they did not even give Stud at $.5M a haircut. Stud was just given a pay-raise the year before when they promoted him to OC. Krag did take a bit of a paycut but at that is probably overpaid for his current contributions!! Aleva's solution to all of this is to just raise prices and throw more money at the Athletic program. Hopefully, when the Board delayed action on the increase, they recognized the need to take a closer look at managing this situation.

Football makes a ton of money....

I'm surprised no one wants to talk about Title IX...

LSU has over 500 athletes on scholarship, how of them participate in a sport that at least breaks even?

Not that it matters but I'd agree with the increases if they would completely turn over the offense to Cam. Then give him another .5 million.

I could cut 1.5 mil from the budget quickly....not pay it to a women's b ball coach. Problem solved Joe.

Not entirely accurate. If he leaves after this season, he only got $600k. If he says through next year, then he will have averaged just below $1M each year. If he stays his third year, he will average just over 1.1M per year.

We should cut that idiot Allevas paycheck in that case. How much did we make last year? I would love to see the books, you can bet money is being moved around in all sorts of directions to arrive at this dire situation.

Aleva is not good. SMH

If the sport can't really get close to breaking even, we don't pay a lot for it.

Men's B-Ball : kind of pay

Women's B-Ball, Softball, Tennis, and whatever else....pay coaches minimums.

Football? Break the bank !
