General Question about Survivor Leagues

This is a dumb question, but I'd rather ask here than to people IRL. Never played before, and just assumed it was last man standing. 
Is that generally true? Could a survivor league end in Week 7? Or does it continue the entire year?
Specifically, I'm in a basic ESPN league, it started with 25 and is down to 3 undefeated. There are about 7 who keep making picks. I don't know the people that well. I don't see any specific directions on the ESPN league site other than it allows people to keep picking after they lose.
