Flipped the yak this weekend

And lost my damn gun.
It was a nice snub-nosed Taurus 22 9-shot. A cheap, easy to carry gun and it was perfect size for sitting on a kayak. I'm sure I could go buy another for around the same price, but since you guys are the experts I figured I'd ask you.
Are there any that are cheaper or better for around the same price that I should know about? This pistol is only ever carried on my kayak, and would only be used in close range situations.

Where and how deep of water were you in?
ETA: you should put that in a waterproof case that floats or tie a crab trap stopper to it

tragic boating accidents run rampant on this board......you should get some good info.

Lets see what I've lost while flipping my kayak
Cell phone
Rod and reel
Ray ban sunglasses
Benchmade knife
My pride
My humility
My sense of happiness

You're doing it right.

yet another reason to go with a stable, flat water boat. these jack of all trades boats are way less stable than a WS Ride or any Jackson Kayak.

I would go back with a Retrieval magnet.
Was going to recommend the same thing, have used them a few times with good results..

And lost my damn gun.
Have to be wary of enemies in a yak.

I've never flipped a real boat. Maybe you should think about that for a bit

I've never flipped my kayak, a Manta Ray 14'. Have had some rat-bastard power boaters put water over the side though.

It was in the middle of Lake Martin. That water was so damn cold sunday morning. Yikes.
I won't be able to go back for a couple of weeks, if anyone feels like retrieving it I can tell you about where it was and you can keep it if you find it.
But since there's no suggestions of replacement, I'm guessing just replacing it would be fine.

Buy another used Taurus. You can't beat the gun and the price.
