The Dallas Cowboys are projected to be at least a league-leading $31 million over the salary cap next season.

The Cowboys will face what one NFL executive called "a train wreck" in terms of their salary-cap issues.
\

Dallas' messy salary-cap situation got even messier this week when the Cowboys released former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jay Ratliff, who will count for almost $7 million against the cap in 2014.

How can one guy have so much arrogance?

I'd never allow myself to be the reason a professional football team underperforms constantly.
Or at least, I'd like to think so.

If Dallas is $31 million over the cap, it would be $13 million more than the next-closest team, the New Orleans Saints.

And factor in Graham's franchise tag or new contract, that number will be significantly higher.

I don't think they can cut him, they restructured his deal in Feb.

They took his 2013 salary and converted into a signing bonus so they could get under that cap for this year. If they cut him the entire cap hit would be next year, instead of being spread out over 3 years. Next years Austin counts $8.3 million against the cap.

I didn't realize they restructured his contract that recently. With Terrance Williams' emergence, his contract is very expendable still.

Saints aren't in that bad of shape

Will Smith is projected to count $13.9 million against next year's cap & Roman Harper $5.8. If they cut both of them that is a savings of $19.7. They could also free up another $5 million by releasing Lance Moore.

Removing Romo from their roster will go a long to improve the team and fix their salary cap problems.

Smith and Harper both gone or renegotiate again. Moore gone or renegotiate. Graham backloaded deal and were actually in better shape next season than this season.

Agreed, they are paying way too much for an average NFL quarterback.

Moore is one of the more overrated players in the NFL. Stills does 80% of what Moore does for only 10% of the price. You don't need to be Billy Beane to figure out what the right move is this offseason.
