I caught alot of grief from posters over in the Recruiting Board when I said that Bennie Logan was a better prospect then Davenport. With Logan in the NFL and Davenport hardly ever seeing the field while at LSU, it makes you double check the whole 5 star rating.

I remember thinking that Davenport in no way deserved to be a 5 star, but I thought he'd at least contribute

After he graduated LSU, had a year left of eligibility and was sick of playing blocking dummy for 2 snaps a game his whole career. He cam in as the top rated Defensive lineman, I guess that's how he wanted to end his career or at least have a chance of making a splash before the draft

He transferred once he graduated, he's in grad school. He has been playing a big part in Tulane's defensive improvement. While he doesn't have a bunch of sacks and tackles, he is doing his job well being double teamed constantly. My son has a friend on the team who says he works extremely hard and pushes everyone. He knows this is his last chance to get noticed and possibly get a shot for the NFL.
The whole star rating thing is a joke. He was a 5 star but had he committed to a Tulane or Tech out of high school, they would have dropped him to a 3. The opposite happens when a kid who is a 3 commits to the big boys, he usually gets bumped up.

Lol so Patrick Peterson and clowney and Reuben randle being 5 star never work. They are right more than they are wrong. Someone obviously messed up with davenport. Did he attend any camps or anything

Davenport was rated 5 stars as a defensive lineman in high school and then moved to offensive line at LSU. He seems to be doing well at defensive line at Tulane, albeit lesser competition. I'm not necessarily defending the rating system, but it might not be a fair comparison in this case.
