I really enjoyed this movie. I can honestly say that I really couldn't tell what was going to happen next at really any part of the movie. In fact, about an hour and a half in I told myself, I have no idea what is going to happen next. Very well written and well done Sci-fi/action movie. I was really afraid I would be disappointed because of all the hype on this board, but I wasn't.
Discussion:
So the only thing that never got wrapped up for me was the triple loop scenes. Where the same thing seems to happen three times. The part where he doesn't off himself, then he does, then he doesn't again. After much thought, far more than I usually like to put into a movie, I came to the conclusion that what we saw all happened, but not in the order that the movie portrayed it. The first time around, he does kill himself, but then lives his life and decides he doesn't want to die. Paradox? Who really knows? So the director showed the first loop second, and the second loop first and third, but from two different perspectives. That's what I have decided anyway.
I kept waiting for the TK stuff to pop up again and right about the time I had forgotten about it, I see the girl twirling the lighter and then I was like "ohhh, that's how he turns into the Rainmaker".
As far dramatic themes, this movie has layers upon layers. The protagonist/antagonist thing shifts during the movie a couple of times. JGL and Bruce both do really good job with this. I could really go on for about two pages how their characters shift so much during the movie.
Anyway, loved it. 4 out of 5 stars from me.

I loved it as well. Time travel movies usually will get picked apart because there are inevitable inconsistencies. For me as long as the movie stays within its own standards, I'm fine with it.

I liked their approach to answering time travel questions: "Don't think too hard about it."
Seems simple enough, but they let the audience off the hook so they can enjoy the story and the action.

Shameless bump for the night crowd.

On my cue to queue to watch again, but I loved it the first time.

I thought the movie was great.
I had a slight problem with the end. My issue wasn't with time travel inconsistencies or anything, rather that the JGL character would kill himself. He's mostly been nothing but selfish the whole movie (including his lover Bruce Willis self). Now he makes the most selfless move you can make for someone? I dk it was hard to accept as something he'd do

Well, his character hadn't developed into Bruce yet. HE felt bad for giving up his buddy, he had a soft spot for the stripper girl, so he still has a lot of humanity left, considering he kills people anyway.

My favorite movie from last year. I've seen it 3 times now I think.
I'm TERRIBLE at predicting the end to movies. But once they got into the field (not that it was very early on lol) but I figured he was going to blast himself. I would have been fine with him killing the kid. Man he creeped me out.
Emily Blunt is so hot.

I think the ultimate theme of the movie is your future is not written and that you are not the same person at 55 as you were at 25. I think that gets lost in a lot of nit picking over time travel, drawing diagrams with straws, etc.

Interesting side note for the M/Tv board, the actor who plays Cid...
His younger brother is currently playing the son of Kenny F'n Powers on Eastbound & Down.

How did he narrate the movie if he was dead? Honestly I watched the movie in pieces and may have missed something, but he ended his life. That's it, no?
