Just got through visiting 95 year old father-in-law in Port Arthur, TX and enjoyed the stories of his maritime exploits - mostly the good! Same is true of Tiger football when my time comes (God willing) to tell a story or two.....

Got the kids going to the games every now and then at young age so they could enjoy the full atmosphere - home and away. Last away game of memory was the loss to Ark. in Little Rock on my 50th. Bummer! Had all 4 children, wife, sister, brother, and one of their kids. We played well but Ark. was a few seconds better..... as I recall

My Dad and I and younger brothers recount the John Ferguson days from time to time. We mostly just sat there and listened on the couch in the living room but hey it was still cool - and memorable.

I've told my kids the most heartbreaking win turned into a loss in Tiger history vs. Vandy when Kinchen caught Hail Mary to end the game but was flagged for offensive pass interference. That still gives me semi-flashbacks. (humor)

Then the Blue Grass miracle w Randall to Henderson. I don't know where I was when that crap happened. I do know it was Saban's "never say die" message to the college football world. He hardly seemed surprised that we won. What a fricking coach he was!

I do remember where I was for the Fla. game Oct. 11, 1997. It's one of the few times in LSU football history that we beat a #1 ranked team in our stadium. Donaldson and Herb Tyler were fantastic in that ball game! Caption in newspaper read "A game that will be remembered for years to come as the greatest upset in LSU football history"

So moving forward I think the Georgia game (offensively) this season was awesome! Landry and Mettenberger were at the top of their games. Unfortunately the defense was not prepared like they are now. The Florida game on defense just this past weekend was pretty special when you go back and watch again w Johnson and Ferguson on defense. Semi-bummer that the offense was called upon for ball control and clock management and not a point-a-minute. A win is a win!

This Sat. I will probably be in Austin, TX helping sister w some small remodeling work. Meanwhile I'll figure out a place to visit and eat dinner and watch the game w family/friends. Ole Miss game will be exciting just like all the games are going to be remainder of this season as LSU pushes for another shot at the BCS title. Just maybe as time unfolds over the next 2 months there will be another game or two to talk about for years to come. Sure looks like it. I certainly hope so!
