So what's the ruling on this?

Gonna try to make this a simple as possible.
Before season started, the owners of my league where under the assumption that interceptions thrown by a QB were given a value of 0. No points (-1) were going to be deducted.
Well after Eli's 2 picks tonight, I checked the scoring, and noticed that Eli was actually given a positive 2 points for his interceptions. I checked our league scoring, and in fact our league was set up before the season to give a +1 to the QB for each pick he threw. I called the commissioner and apparently he switched the settings back to which every owner thought was the case prior to the season starting (a zero value).
Here's the kicker. When he changed the settings, it cost an owner a win back in week 2. The original winner wound up actually losing by a slim margin due to the fact he was getting points for the interceptions his QB threw that week.
That was the only game which changed outcomes because of the error.
Should that owner just suck it up, or should we play the entire season with the erroneous error that was inputted?

I'd change it. Let him keep the win though

Sounds like you need a new league

How did yall not notice this the first 5 weeks of the season?

Can't change it for just that week. It changes it retroactive to the first week.

You can give him enough points so that he gets the win though. I'd agree that that's the way to go.

That's messed up. Our league manager jacked up our league by giving negative points to kickers for missing fg's. So if a kicker misses a 57 yarder he gets -1. We didn't change it though because it changes every game that had happened previously.
You have to keep the same settings you had in week 1 throughout the entire year no matter what.

I guess bc that was the only week that the final score was close enough that it would affect the outcome. I guess it's all our fault for not catching it sooner.

The most important thing you should learn from this is to get a new commissioner. Give that responsibility to someone who can handle it.
That being said, I think more backstory could help. Is this the first year for this league? If there were previous seasons what was the scoring for those seasons. Did you guys vote to changer the rules or was there just an expectation about scoring by a few teams?

You should be able to manipulate the scores.
If you can't figure it out just give him a loss and change it. You can't keep getting points for an int

League has been going on since 2001. New commissioner this year. This is not a league of retards, I promise.
I'd be pissed if it cost me a win.

So what was the scoring for interceptions last year? If it was +1 did you guys vote and got a majority to change it? If so, the scoring should be retroactive in my opinion.

Agreed. League needs to put it to a vote. That's pretty shitty

I would be too, but I'm also smart enough to notice when points aren't right.

rules are rules. if the guy got an unearned win it should be corrected

Yeah well as of now, that's how it's gonna go. I'd cause a frickin riot if it happened to me.
Peep this doe. The dude who ends up winning the game actually was the original original winner. He woke up that Thursday morning and noticed that the stat correction to Spiller that week wound up taking points from him causing the other dude to win. Now the rule correction gives him back the win. Crazy shite there.

the person who lost because a QB was awarded positive points for throwing an INT should not lose b/c of that. Everyone knows an INT should be 0 to negative. The person who won b/c of that error should suck up that loss.
Last year I was in a league that awarded a QB +5 points for each time he was sacked, and A. Rogers got sacked 7 times in one game and was awarded 35 pts. The commish left that error all year. That was completely wrong, not correcting was even worse. I had to look for a QB that had poor o-line blocking to compete. Clearly no one drafted based on that.
Somehow the scoring got messed up. Commish said he had problems with the system resetting some things, so he didn't even try to correct it.

just delete the league and go your separate ways.

I like it. Leagues without negative consequences. I wish I got points or didn't lose points for having players frick. Wish I could use this point system in life.

This. If I lose by a point, I am always checking the stats and making sure shite is right. The owner who lost should have bitched when it happened.
Anyway, moving forward the scoring needs to be adjusted. Can't be rewarding shitty play. The new scoring starts this week and on. That's how we would do it.
